Rain.

Been raining and shit all week.

This was Chris and Ronnie Gaska's weekend.

Here is the story:

Since I was hurt for Pa., and nearly perfected at the Shoreham regional, there was no reason for me to do the Bethel race. And since Gman needed another race, why not check out Tn. The only reason I wanted to go was, A. to see Jack Daniels place, which you couldn't drink anything on Sunday, and B. to get a cowboy hat, which I got, but at a gas station for $12.99.
So I got this sweet deal on orbitz for about $500 which included rental car for 4 days, air travel, and 3 nights in a hotel. Things were looking pretty good. Then Ron calls and says he might not be able to go because his boss had a heart attack at work. Fearing that I might be a lonesome cowboy for the weekend, Ron suggested that I write a country song about it. Luckily Ron was able to go and no song has been written yet.
On track again, I was stressing about the $100 fee for bringing a bike on a plane each way. With bribery my only weapon, and the fact that it has never been successful, I wasn't feeling paying $200. Luckily, with the new system where you have to pay for extra baggage, I was able to elude NWA with my "3/4 Length Leather jacket garment bag." $75 bucks back in the pocket!
So everything was cool, got the bike safe, got the car, then I head over to America's Best Value inn. After upgrading the room to two doubles instead of a king, I learned that $100.38 was the total for the 3 night stay. The upgrade cost another $60.
Hotel problems: Half dead roach on the floor, his buddies trying to sneak down the fan in the bathroom, must have got there heads chopped off, custom TV stand made of TV, airated sheets custom from cigarettes, cobwebs to trap teradactyles, broken table, balcony with a chair from a Freddy movie with custom window only access, dirty sheets, dirty towells, dirty ladies working the joint, and people cleary old enough to buy cigarettes, asking to buy some off me.
Racing: Gman does well, makes mains and gets everyone talking about him. I overheard Holmes, Richardson, and Becerine talking about Ron during practice. The gate was a little slick, before they grip taped it, then dremmmled it. I made the main on Saturday, but the slow guys left for Sunday and I inherited the trait.
Sunday, Ron gets a slow start put picks up a ton of speed coming out of turn 1. He crossed paths with O Show and down he went. I think that if he wasn't clipped in, he would have put his foot down and destroyed the whole leg. A tibular plateau fracture will keep Ron off the bike for a bit, missing the grands.
Luckily Ron made it out of the hospital and we made it back safe, but minus my bag that has my clothes, electric toothbrush, clipless pedal shoes, and my $12.99 cowboy hat.

See you next weekend

Chris
